Effective: October 30, 2026
Uncharted Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Huntington Beach, California. This policy explains what information we collect through unchartedfuture.org, how we use it, and how to reach us with questions.

Information you provide to us
Grant applications. When you apply for a micro-grant through our application form, you provide the information requested on that form, such as your name, school, grade, contact information, and your answers about what you hope to do with a grant. We use that information to review your application, contact you about it, and, if you are selected, to connect you with mentors and community partners.
Messages to us. When you email us or contact us through the site, we receive the information you send, and we use it to reply.
Donations. Donations made through our Donate page go through PayPal Giving Fund. We also accept donations through Venmo. Payments are processed by PayPal or Venmo, and we do not receive your card or bank account details through our website. PayPal and Venmo share your name and gift amount with us so we can acknowledge your donation and provide tax receipts.
Information collected automatically
Our website is hosted by Squarespace. Like most hosted websites, Squarespace may collect basic technical information when you visit, such as your device and browser type and the pages you visit, in order to operate and secure the site.
How we use information
We use the information described above to operate Uncharted Future: to review grant applications, to respond to messages, to acknowledge donations, and to run our programs and outreach. We do not sell your personal information.
Sharing
We share personal information only as needed to run the organization, for example with the people who review grant applications and with service providers who operate the website and process donations, as described above. We do not share it for marketing by other organizations.
Young applicants
Our micro-grants serve students in grades 7 through 12, so some applicants are under 18. We ask applicants to provide only the information requested on the application form. If an applicant is selected as a finalist, we require guardian confirmation before proceeding, as stated in our grant policy.
Data security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. We keep application and donation records only as long as needed to operate our programs, meet our recordkeeping obligations, and comply with the law.
Your choices
To ask about, correct, or request deletion of information you provided to us, email sheets@unchartedfuture.org and we will respond.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date above.
